When it comes to bearded reedlings you want to photograph the males. The females are beautiful as well but they lack the characteristic sideburn.
There is definely room for improvement in this image. But for now I’m quite happy, because this image convinced me that eventually I will be able to make an image of a male in a similar but slightly more minimalistic setting.
This is the second time I used my monopod in combination with the Winberly MH-100 (a so-called monogimbal head). This combination offers the same functionality as a tripod in combination with a full gimbal head. So far I really like this setup: I feel I’ve gained a lot of speed and portability, of course at the expense of some additional stability a tripod would offer.
